7 Survival Tips
- Give yourself plenty of time—That suggested 2hrs before your flight leaves is almost mandatory during the holidays. Even if you’ve checked in
online , you still need to stand in line to check suitcases, unless you were able to take advantage of curb-side check-in. I highly suggest you do this whenever possible. Then you go straight to the security line. Better yet, pack everything you need in 1 carry-on, then you can again go straight to security. - Looking to make those cheap flights stay
stay cheap? Pack everything you need in a backpack, as long as it fits under the seat in front of you, it’s free. If you have to store overhead, then usually there is a charge. Southwest airlines are the only airline that I know of that will let you check 2 bags, 1 carry-on for free. (They still give snacks too).
- Food & Beverages—Some airlines still give out little snacks, pretzels, a cup of soda or water, or tea & coffee. Some do but charge you. You can take your own snacks and drinks on board, provided you go through security first. By all means take your own water bottle, but going through security it must be EMPTY. Once through security you can then stop at the drinking fountain and fill it up with water. This method is environmentally friendly as well. Go buy your snacks or a soda at the gift shop or news stand shops.
- Entertainment-–Download movies
movies to your phone or ipad that way you don’t need the WiFi towatch yourmovies . There is usually a charge for the WiFi. Bring a book to read, or electronic reading material that does not require WiFi, word puzzles, crossword puzzles, deck of cards, color books for the kids, crayons, ( adults like to color too, so bring your own crayons if you’re wanting to color with your child). - Catch up on Your Sleep— Was this a 5 am flight? Then catch up on some shut-eye. Bring your neck pillow, blanket, (Try to sleep with your mouth closed, and don’t snore! 🙂
- Be Courteous to Others—Don’t try to lay your seat back into the lap of the passenger behind you–there is not that much leg room as it is.
- Last but not Least, Smile and say Thank-you to your crew as you are departing, they work hard to make your flight as safe and comfortable as possible. It doesn’t cost anything to smile and say Thank-you!
