Who is Jenette Goldstein you ask?
She is the owner, founder and CEO of Jenette Bras.
Who is Jenette Goldstein you ask? Jenette Goldstein is an American Actress best known for her Saturn Award-winning role as Private Vasquez in the 1986 science fiction horror film Aliens, she was also the foster mom in Terminator 2, Diamondback in Near Dark (1987) and Detective Meghan Shapiro in Lethal Weapon 2 (1989).
She has gone from actress to small business owner. Not just any business owner, but the Founder, Owner and CEO of Jenette Bras. What does this have to do with swimsuits you ask? Well, I now know that you should be shopping for your latest swimsuit in your nearest bra boutique. You should be fitted for your correct bra size once a year. You should also be fitted anytime you have lost or gained weight and after having a baby.
Ladies it’s almost time to hit the beaches and the pools. Are you going to be ready by wearing the right swimsuit? If you are a large busted woman, it may be very difficult for you to find the correct bra size and swimsuit. That is why you need to shop at a bra boutique that caters to larger busted women.
According to Jenette Goldstein almost 80% of women are wearing the wrong size of swimsuit. That’s because they shop for their swimsuits in the wrong place.
Jenette was incredibly fun to interview. The reason she started her business was because she could never find the right size of bra for herself! She said that she was in France and went into a bra boutique and found the correct size for the first time. That is how she decided to start her shop. She said, “If I was having this problem, then I was sure there were plenty of other women that were having the same problem as me”. “I am not a Full- figured woman, but I am full busted. The rest of me is small. That was the problem I was having, small band but large cup size”.
“So, I created a boutique that starts with a “D cup and goes all the way to K” and sizes start at 28” and go all the way to 44”. She created her store to give the women what they want and the size they need. She has 4 shops in LA and 1 in Atlanta, Georgia. Right now, you can do virtual fittings, she says her fitters can look at a woman and determine what size she is. You make an appointment to have a virtual fitting, they will ship out the correct garments, and providing they have not been worn, and tags are still attached they are returnable if the fit is not correct. Otherwise, you make an appointment to go to her shop for a fitting.
Jenette orders all her apparel from Europe and she has one designer in Brazil. She has all her items in stock so you can try on and pick out matching sets so you can look and feel feminine and beautiful.
Swimwear is made by bra designers. So, this is where you should be buying your swimsuits. Janette orders her swimwear once a year and keeps it in stock all year long. It makes perfect sense that when you go to be fitted for your bra that you get fitted for a swimsuit at the same time. For instance, you fall in love with a Prima Dona bra, it fits good, makes you look good and feel good, so you would want to try on a Prima Dona swimsuit. Fitters at Jenette’s boutique could then go pull a Prima Dona swimsuit in the style and color you like. She tries to find out first what you her customer likes, or doesn’t like. What colors you like and don’t like, and what styles you like and don’t like. She feels no one should have to try on something they don’t like or will not make them feel good. She also keeps a file of what you like, and then if someone wants to buy you a gift, her shop will know exactly what you like.
When asked about the right style swimsuit for different body types, she said she really likes the classic “pin-up” styles. The high waisted 2-piece, or the higher waisted bikini, this allows the woman to pick the right size of top and pair it up with the correct size bottom. They are sold separately. How many of us have gone to a department store and picked a size 10 for instance and the top may fit but the bottom is too big. Or vice versa.
One-piece swimsuits are measured by bra band and cup size as well as the torso. It’s also important to know what the woman will be doing in her swimsuit. Is she doing the “breaststroke” or the “Mai-tai stroke”? Are you going to be with your in-laws or chasing kids around, or both? The activity can dictate what type of swimsuit you would want to be wearing. If you are going to be swimming you may want a more ‘speedo’ type of swimsuit, where if you are hanging out at the pool partying you may want a fancier suit.
Jenette’s company also likes to help give back to the community. They work with an organization that helps teenage foster girls outfit them for Prom. Different shops pitch in and donate dresses, shoes and Jenette’s store of course outfits them with the correct under garments for their Prom dress. She said her customers like to come participate, it’s a feel good activity. Her budget comes from the sales of strapless bras all year long. Then, around March every year this event takes place. The girls are fitted correctly and go home with their Prom outfits, under garments and all.
Jenette has 4 stores throughout the LA area and one in Atlanta, Georgia. While talking we also discovered that she too had a connection to Pueblo, Colorado. When we were talking before I started recording I told her she probably never heard of Pueblo, Colorado which is where I am located, and she said yes, she did know where Pueblo was. Her grandfather had been born here. His father was working on the railroad here at that time. Her grandfather moved away as a young man, but then during the depression had moved his family back to Pueblo for a short time, her mother lived here when she was in Kindergarten, first grade, then they went back to Atlanta.
So to wrap up, ladies, make sure you are getting fitted for your bras once a year, and make it a point to try on the same brand swimsuit at the same time. Try looking up a bra boutique with trained fitters. Our department stores usually have a fitter come in once or twice a year. A bra boutique has fitters there all the time and they carry swimwear all year long. Jenette’s will do virtual fittings for you and then send you what you pick out. You can also have a virtual fitting once you receive your garments. That way they can tell if they fit the way they are supposed to. The swimsuit pricing is anywhere from $115 – $226. They may be returned for a suit that fits better if you did a virtual fitting, as long as they have not been worn or washed and tags are still attached.
Remember too, that a beautiful Maillot swimsuit can double as a beautiful bodysuit, you can put a skirt on over it and go to a cocktail party.
