SO LONG, FAREWELL, GOODBYE 2020!
2020 was the worst year of my life, and not just because of Covid 19. Actually, if Covid 19 was all we had to suffer through it would not have been a bad year!
Actually, 2020 didn’t start out to be a bad year at all! January my little great-granddaughter, Paislee turned 3.

February, my granddaughter was named Winter Sports Queen for the Centennial Bulldogs.
The end of February, we were able to travel to Las Vegas for my granddaughter’s soccer tournament, and my granddaughter Lexi and I stayed at the Mirage Hotel which is awesome! We stayed there 4 nights and it is a great luxury, resort hotel.

Peyton’s Birthday
Then March 13, 2020 was when everything was shut down! Schools were closed the next week and all the kids were schooled at home online! Teachers worked from home, my daughter had to work from home for her bank. Myself, I already worked from home. It’s just that everyone had their travel plans cancelled. I couldn’t promote travel because we couldn’t travel. It was hard to blog about travel, because I couldn’t travel. But I did bring you book reviews, product reviews and reviews of places that I had traveled or local travel when it was allowed.
April 8, 2020 our 4th great-grandchild was born, a little boy, Beckham Isaac Smith, born at 4:32 am, weighing in at 7lbs 2oz 20inches long.

May 29th my granddaughter Peyton graduated from Centennial High School with honors, virtually. Actually, the virtual graduation was nice, and then later in July she did get to participate in a live outdoor graduation ceremony sponsored by the parents of all the graduates of Pueblo. She also eventually was able to have her graduation party, outside with social distancing of course.

My grandson was leaving to Houston, Texas, to go to school for diesel mechanics. At his going away party, he surprised everyone by asking his girlfriend to marry him. Of course she said “Yes”!
Then for us, the rest of the year just fell apart. It started in June when we lost our niece, she was part of a double homicide. Yes, they caught the person who did it, he was a juvenile and will be tried as an adult.
Then the end of July, first part of August we thought my husband, Gary did have Covid 19. When he was tested though, the test came back negative. He did finally call the doctor and was put on 2 different antibiotics which did not help him. He finally had me make an appointment, but by that afternoon he decided that he felt so bad I better take him to the ER. Which I did. We just thought he was dehydrated and had pneumonia. The Chest X-ray showed a total white out of the right lung, (which means it was filled with fluid), so we thought yes, pneumonia. But the ER doctor said, “Not so fast, there are 3 things this could be, 1, pneumonia, 2, cancer and 3, empyema.” Of course, the ER also tested my husband again for Covid 19. It was negative. The CT scan showed it was a mass thus started my husband’s journey fighting cancer.
For Halloween my husband suggested having a Halloween Party, which we started planning right away! We needed something fun! He said he was just joking, but as Halloween got closer he kept asking when the Halloween Party was. We had to postpone for a week due to family members getting Covid 19, so we postponed it for 10 days and had it on November 8, 2020.

My husband lost his brave fight with cancer on November 15, 2020, the day after my birthday.

Then of course this year couldn’t just stop there! No! Most all of my family got Covid 19, so like everything else this year, Thanksgiving was a separate gathering, and Christmas had to be postponed until New Year’s Day, just like our Halloween party was postponed until Nov. 8, due to Covid 19.
My precious little great-grandson, Beckham kept having feeding issues, and breathing issues. We knew he aspirated meconium at birth, but he kept having feeding issues. He was in and out of Children’s Hospital at Memorial in Colorado Springs twice, then he was scheduled for a g-tube insertion at Denver Children’s Hospital on November 18, 2020. It was supposed to be a 1-night stay. They couldn’t get him off of the ventilator after surgery, so he ended up in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit until December 20, 2020. While he was at Denver Children’s Hospital, they did some genetic testing and discovered he had Rett Syndrome. A very rare disorder in little boys. 98% of the time it is always found in little girls. I will share more about this rare syndrome throughout 2021. Even as a Pediatric nurse, I had never heard of Rett Syndrome. I am however, going to follow research and have signed up for their newsletter, as this will affect our whole family. You can follow “Beckham’s Battle” on my Facebook page that I share from my granddaughter’s Facebook page when she posts, and here in my blog. If you know of anyone who’s child has Rett Syndrome you may want to let them know about my blog as well.
Even though I consider this the worst year ever for myself and my family there is hope. Hope that 2021 will be a healthier, and happier year. Hopefully, they will continue to do research that can help Beckham be the best he can be. Hopefully, my grandson Logan will graduate from Diesel Mechanic school and get a good job.
Hopefully, we can travel once more. I do believe 2021 will be a year of most people discovering places within the United States that they have never been to before. My goal for 2021 is to go somewhere new each month and share my adventures with you here.
My wish for everyone is that you all will have a Joyous, Happy and Healthy New Year with New Adventures!
HAVE A HAPPY 2021!!
Informative article, exactly what I needed.
Today, while I was at work, my cousin stole my iphone and tested
to see if it can survive a 25 foot drop, just so she can be a youtube sensation. My iPad is
now broken and she has 83 views. I know this is completely off topic but I
had to share it with someone!
