Recently, my oldest daughter and I were returning home from a cruise through Orlando International Airport, which was packed with people waiting in line to get through security. Last summer, I decided to get my TSA PreCheck number, and I’m really glad I did. Unfortunately, my daughter did not have a TSA PreCheck number and had to go through the regular line.
I breezed through security in about 10 minutes, but my daughter had to wait in line for at least 45 minutes. I started to worry that something might have happened to her!
To obtain your TSA pre-check number just do these three things:
1. Apply On-line select an enrollment location near you. Submit your TSA PreCheck application online in as little as 5 minutes.
2. Visit an enrollment location. You will be given an appointment time, you go there, you are fingerprinted, photo is taken, you make payment and voila, you are given a card with your TSA number on it.
3. Once approved, you will get your Known Traveler Number (KTN), add it to your airline reservations and start saving time in the security screening line next time you fly.
The cost is $85.00 for five years and well worth it. It saves time and the hassles of taking your shoes off, your computer out of your bag, your belt off. You know the drill. TSA PreCheck can make your traveling life so much easier.
