I love cruising because the cruise takes me to places I would not normally travel to if it weren’t part of the cruise. You board the ship, unpack once and away you go. You usually cruise at night and wake up in a new port. There are also days at sea. There is so much aboard the cruise ship to do I never get bored.
In April 2019 my granddaughter and I sailed on the Carnival Horizon to the Southern Caribbean. It was her first cruise and she had a great time! She told her husband that they were going to have to book another cruise for their family.
We had a balcony room and it was gorgeous! It was nice to be able to go sit on our balcony and eat breakfast, look at the port we just docked at. She decided next time however, since her kids were so little they just needed an ocean view cabin and she said “this is perfect for my little family”.
We left out of Miami, and the first day was a “Day at Sea”. We slept in, had a leisurely breakfast at the buffet, then went to the pool. We played miniature golf, she won, she lettered in golf in high school.
That night was our first elegant night and show. We were so busy having fun we didn’t even take a picture of ourselves all dressed up! The musical show was fabulous and so was the dance party in the atrium afterwords to soul music and naming that tune! Our cruise director Schwartz was phenomenal, he made the cruise so much fun at night. He was an entertainer himself.
The next morning we woke up in Turks and Caicos. We had the best time. Now be prepared to pay for an umbrella and 2 lounge chairs, we paid $30 and it was well worth it, because the free ones had all filled up by the time we got to the beach area. We shopped around first. You do not have to do an excursion in Turks and Caicos. Everything is right there as you walk off the ship. The water was a little cool at first, but once you’re in it feels great and warms up quickly.

Astronaut John Glenn who died at age 95 in Dec. 2016, lives on at Grand Turk Cruise Center where an exhibit chronicles NASA’s Mercury Space program and the historic splash down of Glenn’s space capsule off the coast of Grand Turk. John Glenn became a national hero as the first American to orbit the earth.

Well that’s all for today. More on our Southern Caribbean cruise tomorrow!
Cruising sounds wonderful! It is on my bucket list!
Cruising is fantastic. We love it and have been to many great locations.
I love cruising too! We had a balcony on our last cruise, and it was wonderful!
